About us
Our Mission: Marriage for Keeps exists to serve married couples in an effort to strengthen marriages and create positive outcomes for parents and children.
Marriage for Keeps is an educational program. This is not counseling or therapy. Marriage for Keeps provides classes and assistance that help couples learn skills and tools to strengthen the marriage. This program is for all types of marriages - stable, healthy marriages as well as marriages that are experiencing distress, all can benefit.
We provide services for one year to marriage couples at no cost. There are three main parts to the program; Classes, Family Support Specialist/Case Management, and Extended Marriage Activities.
This is a non-religious based program.

History
Marriage for Keeps is a 5 year federally-funded program, started in 2006. It is part of the national Supporting Healthy Marriage demonstration project funded by the Administration for Children and Families at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Kansas City, Wichita, and Manhattan are also participating in this program.
Family Services
Marriage for Keeps provides 13 weeks of marriage enrichment education
classes (including communication, problem solving, stress management, and commitment to name some major topics covered). These
classes meet once a week. We provide a meal, and the materials. There is also limited childcare and transportation assistance. There is no cost to the couple.
Family Support Specialist: The family specialist provides support for couples that need extra help with understanding and implementing skills and concepts covered in class. The family specialist is in contact a minimum of once a week outside of class with the couples, while they are attending class. She also is able to refer the couple or a spouse to other services that may be needed, such as drug and alcohol services, or marital counseling. She can help complete paperwork for benefits or locate other resources that the couple may need. There is no cost to the couple.
Extended Marriage Activities: This is a once a month activity for the couples that are in the program. The class may cover new materials or review topics that were covered in class. Material could include money management, step families, 10 Great Dates, and other topic that would be of interest to couples. There is no cost to the couple.
